Congratulations to our wonderful young athlete, Sophia Lotz, who has been nominated to represent Special Olympics Florida on the countdown page for the Special Olympics 2014 USA Games!
Five-year old Sophia Lotz was selected by site coordinator Krista Vanderborne of Balance 180 Gymnastics and Sports Academy in Gainesville (Alachua County). She is the sweet daughter of Gloria Lotz and has been involved in the Balance 180 Young Athletes Program for over a year. Her mother says that she enjoys the program because there are a lot of fun activities and games to play that help her develop physically and mentally. Her favorite activities to participate in are balance (gymnastics), kicking (soccer) and striking (softball). She enjoys these activities because they are fun and help to keep her focused. Gloria says, “Sophia has become more open to social participation, she is stronger, and her coordination has improved tremendously.” Outside of YAP, Sophia enjoys playing with her building blocks. She is truly a great representation of the wonderful Young Athletes participating in Alachua County. Way to go Sophia!
