Gymnasts ages 3-16 with physical or intellectual disabilities learn foundational motor skills on the vault, bars, beam and floor in a step-by-step individualized process. Each athlete receives personalized attention and works at his or her own pace in the class.
Coaches focus on improving muscle strength, coordination, and balance, all while having fun! Athletes work in a small group setting, learn to follow directions and are paired with a "buddy".
Classes are positive and engaging, including songs and dance.

Balance 180 was approached by Special Olympics Florida Alachua County to bring Special Olympics gymnastics to our area. Since 2017, we have had the great pleasure of hosting a wonderful team of athletes who train at Balance 180 under the instruction of awesome coaches and volunteers. This team represents Alachua County at local and state competitions, including a competition at the ESPN Disney Wide World of Sports. Our athletes continue to amaze us, and we enjoy being able to provide the opportunity for all athletes, regardless of ability, to be a part of a team and to compete!

The goal of YAP is to introduce these children to the world of sports and help develop their motor, cognitive, social, adaptive and communications skills in an inclusive environment.
