Frequently Asked Questions

How and when do I sign my athlete up?

Our enrollment is ongoing throughout the year, and you are welcome to start anytime! We'd be happy to offer you a free trial. Call or email us today for more information and to check availability!

Does my athlete have to attend class on the same day and time each week?

To ensure that we have the correct amount of coaches and to keep our class sizes capped at a certain ratio, we ask that you select a regular day and time for your athlete to attend class. If you should need to miss a class, you are welcome to schedule a makeup class if we are given prior notice of the absence.

How many days of the week should my child attend class?

The number of classes your child attends each week is ultimately up to you! For athletes who are ages five and older, we recommend enrolling your child in two or more classes a week so that they may progress faster and master the skills they need for the next class. For our younger athletes, we recommend starting them in one class a week. You always have the option to add classes if it is something they really enjoy!

What if I need to miss a class?

We are happy to schedule a makeup class depending on availability if we are given prior notice of the absence. Just call or email us anytime before your athlete's regular class time!

When will my athlete be assessed or moved up to the next class?

We want to make sure your athlete stays challenged! To move up into the next class level in our recreational gymnastics program, our gymnasts must master certain skills, which are periodically assessed by our coaches. Assessments may be completed over a series of weeks or months, depending on each athlete's age and ability. Our coaches will notify both you and your athlete when it is time for them to start training in a new class!

Are your programs only for athletes with special needs?

Our recreational gymnastics classes are inclusive for children with and without special needs. We do have programs that are specifically designed for athletes with special needs, such as our adaptive gymnastics and Special Olympics Young Athletes programs where we are able to offer a higher level of support with our awesome volunteer team.

I'd like to get some more information on your competitive gymnastics program!

Thank you for your interest! Our competitive gymnastics program is by the invitation of a competitive team coach. Balance 180 is a USA Gymnastics Member Club and currently offers women's competitive gymnastics for Levels 1-5. Balance 180 also hosts and leads practices for the Special Olympics Florida Alachua County competitive gymnastics team.

What if I need to take a break or put my account on hold?

We are happy to hold your athlete's spot in their class for up to two months. We require written notification of a hold or drop by the 20th of the last month in which your athlete will be actively enrolled. Feel free to shoot us an email or stop by the front desk to fill out a Quick Form  to notify us that your athlete will be taking a break or no longer be taking classes with Balance 180.

What should my athlete wear?

We recommend that our athletes wear comfortable athletic clothes, such as a t-shirt or tank top and shorts. Some of our athletes choose to wear a leotard, but they are not required. Our athletes go barefoot on the floor, so no socks or special shoes are needed!

What should my athlete bring to classes?

We recommend bringing a water bottle, though we do have water fountains and a vending machine if you prefer or should forget!

Where is Balance 180 located?

If you are familiar with where the Highway Patrol station off of 441 and/or the Super Walmart off of 34th Street, we are in the industrial park past the railroad tracks, on the same road as FedEx and UPS. We are on the left, right before you get to Pepsi.
